It was such a joy to see that Fiona had planned her wedding day meticulously, as was evidenced in the numerous e-mails and phone calls before the wedding day.
The weather started off overcast, but dry and chilly. However, during their wedding ceremony in the Castle Room at Winchester Register Office (with its superb views of the Winchester Law Court and Castle), the weather turned and the rain (light drizzle) started.
Hence, once the ceremony was finished, the original plans to walk around Winchester for a photo shoot at many different locations was abandoned, and everyone walked briskly down the High Street to get to the warm and dry shelter of the Crown and Anchor Pub for the celebrations to start as quickly as possible.
I managed to persuade Fiona and Mick (with a couple of their bridesmaids) to pose at the top of the steps outside the Guildhall, before going back across the road into the pub for the speeches and drinks.
Despite having moved back to live in Winchester over 5 1/2 years ago, this was the first wedding that I had ever photographed in the Winchester Register Office. For anyone planning to get married there, the Castle Room is the largest of the three rooms that they offer (it will accommodate 40+ seats easily).
For the statisticians …. a 2 hour wedding shoot, with all 269 images retouched within 30 hours after the shoot.
